What’s red, white, blue & FREE just for you? 🇺🇸

a weekly(-ish) newsletter on websites, workflows, writing & getting paid

Happy early Independence Day Reader—

TLDR: Between the fireworks, the sticky fingers, and your uncle trying to light a grill with a roman candle—there's a REALLY good one-time-only freebie in this email. 🎇🔥📋

Bc thing about me is… I love all holidays—but nothing beats the nostalgia of the 4th of July.

It used to mean swimming all day, fireworks at the city ballpark, and snacks my mom never let us buy any other time of year...

...now it’s my own sparkler-happy kids running barefoot through the grass, sticky with Bomb-Pop juice & Lee Greenwood blaring on the bluetooth speakers.

There’s just something about it. 💥

Except for the loads of emails popping off in my inbox, trying to grab our attention with sparkly deals.

And look—I’m not totally mad about it. I am a sucker for anything red, white, and blue. But this year, I'm not here to add that stress to your inbox (or your wallet)

In the spirit of laid-back summer energy and all-American generosity, here are three FREE things just for you:

🇺🇸 A free About Page copy template
This one’s special. It’s pulled straight from the mad-lib-style copy workbook that comes exclusively with my new website templates (launching soon!). This link will work until the fireworks stop– here in the country, that means all weekend 🧨
👉 Click here to grab it »

🇺🇸 A fresh blog post:
How to write your About Page (most people get this totally wrong)
Real talk: your About Page is one of the most-visited pages on your site... and usually the worst.
Let’s fix that. This guide walks you through how to make it connect and convert (without the existential spiral).
👉 Read it here »

🇺🇸 A shortcut if you’re building your site or need a refresh
I’m still finalizing my brand-new website template shop (launching this month!), and still have the space for a couple more people to test the whole setup early. This will likely be my last email/last chance to get in on this for $0.00. Just hit reply and say the word.

May your sunscreen hold all day, your popsicles drip slow, and your click-through rate soar 🇺🇸

P.S. This newsletter is my favorite way to serve, and referrals are what keeps my business afloat. If this was helpful to you, would you consider passing it on or pointing a fellow creative to my newsletter page? It would mean the world.

Let’s spill the tea—web, design, and biz trends comin’ in hot.

🚀 New Thinkific + Kit Integration: If you sell courses, this is big. The new Thinkific app for Kit syncs your student data automatically, adds smart tags when someone buys a course, and lets you embed courses right inside your emails. No more switching tabs or manual setup—just smarter, more targeted campaigns with way less effort. 🧠💌

🧠 Squarespace Code Changes Are Coming: Major code updates are hitting Squarespace product pages next month. But Becca from Inside the Square made it easy to prep—she created a free custom GPT that reviews and updates your custom code line-by-line. It’s been tested by fellow Circle Leaders and is perfect for easing into the transition with confidence.

📬 Want to start (or finally grow) your email list? I highly recommend List to Launch Lab—a course from Jenna Kutcher that I used to get my list off the ground. I don’t get anything for sharing this. Enrollment closes soon. Check it out: List to Launch Lab.

WEBSITES IN THE WILD

While I was researching and writing my About Page blog post (yes, me– not AI), I stumbled upon this graphic on the All Birds About page.

LOVE the creative way they used visuals to highlight what's important in a shoe.... but in a 'what's in it for the people wearing them' kind of way.

**Ok fine, maybe I was looking at shoes, and called it market research. Whatever.

📰 DUBSADO INSIDER TIPS

FROM YOUR PERSONAL CERTIFIED DUBSADO SPECIALIST

Q: I need to send a Dubsado questionnaire to both my client and sometimes a third party, like a wedding planner—but I don’t want it to look like a generic Dubsado form link. How can I personalize the link or make it feel more on-brand

A: There are a few ways to make your Dubsado questionnaire link feel more polished and on-brand:

  1. White-label your Dubsado domain in your settings so the link uses your custom URL instead of Dubsado’s. → Settings > Domain Names > White Label
  2. Customize the link preview (title, description, and image) for sharing via text or social. → Settings > Domain Names > URL Metadata
  3. Email the form directly from Dubsado and include a branded button, so it looks intentional and styled in the message.

Note: Dubsado forms can't be embedded on external sites unless they’re Lead Captures, and yes—those do create new projects. For most client-facing forms, white-labeling and customizing the link preview is the cleanest workaround.

a weekly(-ish) newsletter on websites, workflows, writing & getting paid Hey Reader— Tell me I'm not the only one this has happen. I was in full mom mode: pool bags packed, snacks portioned out, sunscreen slathered on every child within reach. One pool float, two watermelon-sticky kids, and three hours later—I realized I’d forgotten to put sunscreen on myself. Classic. Happens at least once a year. I’m so focused on making sure everyone else is covered that I don’t notice what I missed… until...

Summer Bucket List | work from home edition

a weekly(-ish) newsletter on websites, workflows, writing & getting paid Summer’s officially here, Reader! (Ok, maybe not ~officially~ but who waits for the solstice anymore?) 🌞 I’m currently road-tripping with my family, and somewhere between gas station bathroom breaks and “are we there yet?” on repeat... this thought has been floating around in the back of my mind: Summer is a weird time to be a business owner. It’s like, just when you get in a groove—suddenly the kids are home. Unless you...

a weekly(-ish) newsletter on websites, workflows, writing & getting paid Hi Reader, Whew. We made it. May-cember is over *peeks around the corner* Are we all still standing? Oh, May. Our minds may have moved on to dreaming of backyard barbecues, pool days, and late sunsets spent catching fireflies.... ...but we still had weeks of class parties, school ceremonies, field trips, field days, and the looming reality of no school for the kiddos for the next 2 months. Whoa. It was also the month...
