Tell me I’m not the only one this has happened to…

a weekly(-ish) newsletter on websites, workflows, writing & getting paid

Hey Reader—

Tell me I'm not the only one this has happen.

I was in full mom mode: pool bags packed, snacks portioned out, sunscreen slathered on every child within reach.

One pool float, two watermelon-sticky kids, and three hours later—I realized I’d forgotten to put sunscreen on myself.

Classic. Happens at least once a year.

I’m so focused on making sure everyone else is covered that I don’t notice what I missed… until it burns.

That’s what it feels like when you finally hit 'go' on your website … but you skipped an essential prep.

SEO has, by far, been the biggest request clients have come to me with this year. I'm seeing it over and over again-- You launch it, it looks great, you’re proud of it… and then a few months go by and you realize:

  • 🧍‍♀️ “Where is everyone?”
  • 📉 Traffic’s slow.
  • 🔎 You’re hard to find in Google.
  • 🧭 People aren’t clicking through.

Which is why I wanted to send a gentle reminder: this is fixable.

If you’re wondering what’s working (and what’s not), I’ve got two places to start:

  • 📖 This blog post breaks down what SEO actually is, what matters most, and how to tell if your site’s set up for it.
  • 🔍 Ready for a deeper look? Book a Website Audit and I’ll send you a clear, doable to-do list to help your site start showing up—no guessing required.

Let’s get a pulse check on your site and make sure what you worked so hard to build is actually working for you.

web strategy, design & copy

email marketing & crm setup

PS On the topic of smart websites—I’ve been quietly updating my website templates, and I just added something I’m ridiculously excited about:

✨ A custom GPT copy assistant trained to help you write your site fast—with structure, strategy, and SEO in mind. It’s built into the template experience… and it’s kind of amazing.

I’m looking for 2–3 people to test it out before launch. If you’re curious, reply to this email and I’ll send you details.

WATERCOOLER BUZZ

Let’s spill the tea—web, design, and biz trends comin’ in hot.

💸 Dubsado Payments Capital is coming in hot
If you use Dubsado Payments (via Stripe), you might be eligible for fast, flexible funding based on your transaction history—no credit check, just a flat fee and pay-as-you-earn model. It's rolling out officially July 1, but I’ve already seen it helping businesses invest in growth
without taking on traditional debt. 👀

🧪 Kit just dropped a few quiet power moves
Pro users can now
test their email content for higher click-through rates (finally!). Think A/B testing for layouts, CTAs, and content styles. They're also rolling out a new Broadcasts view to track patterns in opens + clicks at a glance. And if you're nerdy like me: their dev docs just launched so you can build custom automations with Kit’s API. 🔧

🎨 Color Palette Hero is 35% off with the code birthdayparty35
Upload your moodboard, and it’ll generate a custom, accessibility-checked color palette with exportable codes, contrast ratings, and pairing options. It’s like having your own brand stylist in your browser. I use the “Generate Palette” feature when I need a fast jolt of inspiration—one click = endless options.

I came across this meal prep + delivery site and had to share how well they nailed this benefits section. So often we list the features or deliverables—but forget to highlight the actual benefits. This one does both beautifully.

✔️ COPY: Clear, desire-driven language that speaks directly to what the reader wants—while gently filtering for the right-fit customer.
✔️ DESIGN: Clean, scannable, and unmistakably clear. The checkmarks aren’t just cute—they create a subtle “yes, yes, yes” effect that reinforces the message.
✔️ IMAGERY: Visually on point. The photo supports the message, feels cohesive, and avoids clutter. It adds to the vibe instead of distracting from it.

📰 DUBSADO INSIDER TIPS

FROM YOUR PERSONAL CERTIFIED DUBSADO SPECIALIST

Q: My client needs a receipt for a refund—including the last four digits of the card they used. Can Dubsado do that?

A: Yep! If you're using Dubsado Payments (via Stripe), this happens automatically. The client should’ve already received a transaction receipt with the payment date, time, card brand, last four digits, amount, and a link to the invoice.

You can’t edit the wording of the email (Stripe controls that), but the info is there—even if the format’s a little… underwhelming. Here’s the help article if you want to check the details.
