We made it (almost)

a weekly(-ish) newsletter on websites, workflows, writing & getting paid

Hi Reader,

Whew. We made it. May-cember is over *peeks around the corner*

Are we all still standing?

Oh, May. Our minds may have moved on to dreaming of backyard barbecues, pool days, and late sunsets spent catching fireflies....

...but we still had weeks of class parties, school ceremonies, field trips, field days, and the looming reality of no school for the kiddos for the next 2 months. Whoa.

It was also the month where “one more thing” just keeps piling on.

So it makes sense that my calendar still looks like it lost a bet. 😅

If that sounds familiar—high five, my friend. We did it! And I have one thing I want to hand you today that’ll make at least one part of your business easier:

👉 This blog post on image sizes. It’s short, bookmark-worthy, and actually helpful.

If you create content of ANY kind, and use images, you will want to book mark that--it's your go-to cheat sheet.

You’ve got enough on your plate. There's one less thing you need to search for every time you create something.

Happy summer hustle–with maybe a little more breathing room. Now go hit up your friends with pools! (or if you have one, call me 🤙🏼)

PS: I’m quietly prepping to launch a website template shop this summer—and I’m looking for a few beta testers 👀
Want a mad-lib style, professionally designed site (with me in your corner) for a steal? Hit reply and I’ll send the details. You’ll just need a week in June to work on it.

WATERCOOLER BUZZ

Let’s spill the tea—web, design, and biz trends comin’ in hot.

💜 Dubsado 3.0: She's so pretty! The new styling is exactly what everyone has been wanting, and the layout is similar enough that I don't feel lost.

🗞️ Kit: If you're using Kit, have you made your Creator Profile yet? It's like a little home page for your newsletter, and it's actually pretty cool! Go to the GROW tab and spend some time zhuzzing it up. You can see what mine looks like HERE. (and yes, I've gotten new sign ups just from this - Hi new friends 👋🏼)

🖌️ Canva Create: If you're in Canva on the reg like me, but still haven't taken the time to see all the new updates, click HERE.

WEBSITES in the wild

Most people get this wrong. Even though it’s technically the place to tell your story, your About Page is not really about you. Everyone just wants to know one thing--WIIFM

^^^Think of it as your highlight reel with a purpose. Def not a biography or a memoir—it's a mirror that shows visitors what’s possible when they work with you.

This well-written (& designed) About Page from Julian Leaver Events is chefs kiss. They drop their credentials in a 'here's what YOU get' kinda way, then highlight the process of how easy it is to work with them. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Q: I am wondering how do I block off a date in the scheduler? I want to be able to block certain dates off but I am not sure how to do it. It only lets me put times I'm available. Thank you!

A: To block off a date, just create a busy event directly on your connected calendar (like Google Calendar). Make sure your calendar is synced with Dubsado, and set the event as “busy” or “out of office.” That time will automatically show as unavailable in your Dubsado scheduler.

WEEKLY ROUNDUP

📖 READING: All it Takes is a Goal by Jon Acuff 👍👍

📺 BINGING THIS: My kids are on a Full House kick right now, so we're blowing through that pretty quickly.

🍽️ IN THE KITCHEN: Strawberry Upside Down Cake. This was one of the very first things I ever learned how to make in the kitchen, and it's still requested on the reg.

🔨 WORKING ON: Making Squarespace templates badder and better than ever (srsly reply backy if you need one before I take the page down to revamp it)

It used to mean swimming all day, fireworks at the city ballpark, and snacks my mom never let us buy any other time of...

a weekly(-ish) newsletter on websites, workflows, writing & getting paid Hey Reader— Tell me I'm not the only one this has happen. I was in full mom mode: pool bags packed, snacks portioned out, sunscreen slathered on every child within reach. One pool float, two watermelon-sticky kids, and three hours later—I realized I’d forgotten to put sunscreen on myself. Classic. Happens at least once a year. I’m so focused on making sure everyone else is covered that I don’t notice what I missed… until...

Summer Bucket List | work from home edition

a weekly(-ish) newsletter on websites, workflows, writing & getting paid Summer’s officially here, Reader! (Ok, maybe not ~officially~ but who waits for the solstice anymore?) 🌞 I’m currently road-tripping with my family, and somewhere between gas station bathroom breaks and “are we there yet?” on repeat... this thought has been floating around in the back of my mind: Summer is a weird time to be a business owner. It’s like, just when you get in a groove—suddenly the kids are home. Unless you...
