Hey heyReader!

You know the stereotype.

The slicked-back hair, the too-wide grin, the handshake that lasts just a little too long. Used car salesmen have a reputation—and not a good one.

Pushy. Overeager. More interested in closing the deal than serving.

We've ALL been on the receiving end of that kind of sales pitch.

The kind that makes you want to grab your purse a little tighter, avoid eye contact, and suddenly remember an urgent phone call you need to take. 🚩

But you know what’s just as bad? When we’re so afraid of being that person that we swing too far the other way—and end up losing the sale altogether.

I just bought a car. We were actively looking, test-driving, and leaving our number with salespeople. We were in the market to BUY. I wanted someone to help me and sell to me.

And yet… crickets.

No follow-ups. No calls to say, “Hey, we just got something in that fits what you're looking for.” At one dealership, the receptionist called a sales rep to come talk to us—and, no joke, paused, looked us up and down, and told her, “They’re dressed okay, I guess.” WOW 🫠

Idk what's going on, but used car salespeople are not what they used to be (at least not at the 7 dealerships we visited).

We eventually found our unicorn dream car at a place nearly 3 hours away. Which, of course, meant we wanted to work out alllllll the details before going up there. But after sending photos and details of our trade-in, we were ghosted.

At that point, I half-joked to my husband, “I'm not sure this car is even there.”

(It was. We bought it. But now I kinda want to take it on a tour of all the dealerships that ignored us, Pretty Woman-style.)

And listen, I get it—none of us want to be that pushy salesperson. But there’s a fine line between being pushy and completely missing an easy sale.

Because the truth is: people who are actively looking for what you offer want you to follow up. They want to feel remembered. They want to be sold to (in a way that feels helpful, not salesy).

So if your inquiries keep fizzling out, your clients aren’t following through, or you’re wondering why people seem hesitant to book… ask yourself: “Am I accidentally making it hard for them to buy?”

Follow-ups aren’t annoying when they’re done right. They’re just good business.

🍺Shopify’s $1 Trial Seems to be Permanent?: Shopify’s “$1 for 3 months” looked like a BF deal, but it's stuck around. New users, all features, go. Join here.

🗞️Squarespace x Canva Collab Rumors: X is whispering about a possible Squarespace-Canva integration—import designs straight to your site. It’s unconfirmed, but the hype’s real (I’d kill to skip the upload dance).

WEBSITES in the wild

Arguably one of the important piece of your website is the part people see immediately when it opens. This top section is called 'above the fold'... Fun fact: name taken from the top part of a newspaper.

This section must answer 2 questions: Who you serve and what problem you solve.

Bonus points if you can make it witty, tug at emotions, tell them 'how' or give a timeline.

This is a time and place to attract and repel.

Keep it clear, not cute. If this section doesn't serve those two ^^ options, that new visitor/potential client is gonna be outta there faster than Lightning McQueen's (attempted) escape out of Radiator Springs.

Check out this well done section from Garden Academy 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

📰 DUBSADO INSIDER TIPS

FROM YOUR PERSONAL CERTIFIED DUBSADO SPECIALIST

Q: I'm new to Dubsado and have been thankfully utilizing the free trial to learn the program. Although it hasn't been easy, I have setup workflow automations. I would like to thoroughly TEST them out, to see what works and what doesn't.

A: The best way to test your Dubsado workflows while still in the free trial is to walk through them as if you were a client. If you still have the "Sample Client" in your account, update its email address to your own and use it to submit any lead capture forms you’ve set up to trigger the workflows. This lets you test everything without using up one of your three free client slots.
